Frequently Asked Questions
How many solar panels are needed to power a typical house?
It’s estimated that the average one-bedroom house needs six solar panels. And a three-bedroom house needs ten.
The number of panels you need depends on the size of your home. We have installed solar across Kent, Sussex & Surrey. So, we will be able to show you examples of the different systems we have designed.
Do solar panels work in winter?
A common myth is that solar panels do not work during winter. On the contrary, cold temperature can improve solar panel efficiency. White snow can reflect light and help improve PV performance. Winter will only hurt solar production when panels are covered with snow.
How long does a solar panel installation take?
Solar panel installation can take up to two days. A considerable amount of time is spent on constructing scaffolding for the panels. So, if you don’t need scaffolding, the install takes less time.
Will the solar and battery system work if I have a power cut?
In the event of a power cut, the Powerwall’s backup kicks in almost instantly. The Tesla app included with the system shows a real-time estimate of how long your home can stay powered (based on current usage).
Please note: Backup power is only available if your system includes an EPS (Emergency Power Supply) switch, which enables the battery to operate in island mode.
Do solar panels work in the rain?
Solar panels still work when light is reflected or blocked by clouds. Rain actually helps keep your panels operational by washing away any dirt that may block PV cells.
