Today the BBC reports that Ofgem have announced a rise in the energy price cap, coming this April. The increase will hike prices for at least half of British households – this will affect you if you’re on a default or standard variable rate. It will also impact everyone using pre-payment meters.
Ofgem, tasked with protecting consumers from being overcharged for energy, has made the decision in response to higher wholesale energy prices.
Some suppliers, such as Octopus, have said they will not be raising their energy prices. You can learn more about Octopus – the only Which? recommended energy supplier – in our blog.
