TLGEC recently installed an electric vehicle charging unit for Compaid, Kent’s largest disability charity.
Through an innovative partnership with Kent County Council and Renault Trucks, Compaid has received a new electric minibus – the Renault Master Z.E. – the first of its kind in the county. The bus has been modified with a ramp and wheelchair access to add to its versatility.
The charity’s Chief Executive, Stephen Elsdon said, “After several false starts with other providers, Little Green Energy Company were on the ball from day one, taking our charity carefully through the steep learning curve of vehicle charging points. The installation was clean and efficient, and the introduction of electromobilty to Compaid has been a complete success.”
After careful consideration we decided the EVBox Elvi charger was ideal for Compaid’s needs.
The Master Z.E. now plays a vital role in Compaid’s community transport operation, taking disabled and vulnerable people from in and around Tunbridge Wells to the charity’s training centre in Paddock Wood to learn computer skills. Compaid also uses the Z.E. to help local people access medical appointments and shopping trips. It is hoped the van will pave the way for more electric vehicles across the county.
Kent County Council cabinet member for transport, Mike Whiting said: “It’s fantastic that we have been able to secure this partnership with Renault Trucks in trialling a fully accessible Renault Master minibus. This trial will help us prove the ability of electric vehicles not only for public transport provision, but also for other commercial operations.”
The team at TLGEC are delighted to have played a part in helping this vital charity in getting this clean and quiet vehicle out and about on the streets of Kent.
